Crew 69 January Meeting Notes

The Philmont Trek group is planning to do a hike along the Monon Trail as a shakedown activity to prepare for there adventure to Philmont this summer. If you are a member of the Crew but are not registered for Philmont you are still welcome and encouraged to join us on the hike.

The hike will take place on Saturday March 1st. We will meet at the Monon Trail paking lot on 96th street (east of College Ave. and west of Westfield Blvd) and begin our hike at 9am. We will walk down to broad ripple and then back (a total of 8-9 miles). All particpants should take plenty of water (even if it is cold outside) and light lunch - we will eat at broad ripple). Trek members should bring there backpacks (weighted to simulate Philmont) and boots they plan on wearing to Philmont.

Look Forward to seeing you all on the Monon.

Our Crew participated in the lottery for Philmont Cavalcades. This is a rather rare opportunity as only a small percentage of those that apply are chosen and we were successful in the lottery for a 2009 date. Due to this unique chance the Crew has elected to choose this as one our Super High Adventure outings for 2009. This is of course provided we have the interest from our membership. Although this is for 2009, To reserve our reservation we need to submit a nonrefundable $50 per person reservation deposit. In order to receive our preferred dates we need to submit this information as soon as possible but no later than April 1st 2009. I am asking those that are interested to reserve your spot by filling out the form in the link below, indicating any date preference or requirement and your $50 deposit to me before March 1st. This is will be on a first come first serve basis. In terms of total cost, I estimate this adventure will amount to ~ $1000 to $1200 per person. Balance of payments will be due in October 2008, January 2009, and March 2009. 2009 Philmont Cavalcades registration
